EUHOFA welcome!
We are very much looking forward to the 61st EUHOFA World Congress in April 2024 (3-7 April). EUHOFA International is a worldwide association of hotel management and tourism schools, which was founded in 1955 by a group of hotel management school directors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Our long-standing director HR Herbert H. SCHILLE was a founding member of this association.
We are therefore all the more delighted to be the first tourism school in Austria to organise the EUHOFA Congress for the third time. After 1975 (under HR Herbert H. SCHILLE) and 1995 (under Dr Walter PRAGER), the EUHOFA Congress will take place in Bad Gleichenberg again next year. We are already looking forward to welcoming participants and guests from all over the world. What can our guests and our pupils and students expect?
The motto of the 61st congress is “Bring the Congress back to the Campus”. We want our pupils and students to participate in lectures and discussions with congress participants from all over the world. As part of a project week, our pupils and students will become an important part of this event. From check-in, a task for our “concierge department”, to the closing event, our students will be everywhere and actively involved in shaping everything. This also gives us the opportunity to show how comprehensive our training is and what we can cover with our students and colleagues.
It will also be a congress of short distances, with all participants living just a few minutes away from our campus and able to reach all lectures and events on foot. We are offering a complete contrast to the last World Congress in Mexico City, where we were able to present our congress, both in terms of content and organisation. From the hectic metropolis to the tranquil thermal and volcanic region.
Thematically, we will engage the congress participants and our students with the burning issues of our time. We will discuss sustainability, tourism ethics and transformation across generations and, if possible, find solutions. To this end, we will visit some local best practice tourism businesses with the congress participants.
Styrian hospitality and the wonderful local cuisine will not be neglected. Our students have often shown what they can achieve with the support of the specialist teaching staff. A trip through the thermal and volcanic region and a visit to our beautiful provincial capital will round off the programme.
The international contacts at the congress will once again show our students the opportunities that an education in tourism can offer.
In the run-up to the 61st Congress, a three-day EUHOFA Board Meeting took place in Bad Gleichenberg this October. Lluis Sierra, our current President from Spain, and the members of the Board had a great time in Styria.
