Concierges received their Les Clefs d’Or certificates
“The guest is king” or “read the guest’s wish from his lips” – this is easier said than done, and it takes a lot of training and intuition to fulfil, understand and ideally also anticipate the wishes of guests or customers.
How to do this is taught at the Bad Gleichenberg Tourism Schools in the additional training Reception/Concierge in cooperation with Les Clefs D’Or.
“In our digital age, assistance in the online area and with digital aids is becoming increasingly important. We attach great importance to this in our training,” says Alois Schöllauf, training manager.
In June, our freshly graduated young concierges were proud to receive their certificates.
Information day private grammar school
Just in time for the summer holidays, the prospective students of our private grammar school and their parents met for an information afternoon for first graders. While the parents received all the important information about the start of school in autumn, the young ladies and gentlemen were busy preparing sweet delicacies for their parents under the supervision of our dear Petra Knittelfelder.
Junior Chefs Relay 2019/20 – Final unit
For a long time it was not clear whether we could even organise a junior chef’s final unit due to the Corona pandemic. But thanks to the loosening of the rules, the time had come at the end of June – under the open sky in beautiful weather, this time a barbecue and a cocktail workshop with gourmet chef Horst Schafler were on the programme.
Getting to know each other on the campus of the tourism schools
The first grades of the Bad Gleichenberg Tourism Schools started the school year with the traditional get-to-know-each-other weeks, while their schoolmates from the higher grades were still on holiday or doing internships.
This time is used to orientate oneself first. To get to know the teachers and the process, of course to make the first experiences in practical lessons and simply to have fun together and to get to know the new environment.
Hiking day
At the beginning of each school year there is of course the obligatory hiking day. It is simply a great opportunity to get to know each other and to have fun together in nature.
For our TSBG classes, after the sports adventure there is a barbecue in the late summer September sun.
And our first grammar school class went high up in the climbing garden!
Healthy snack workshop
Healthy eating is also very important in our private grammar school. For this reason, a cooking workshop on healthy snacks was held for our first class in October, during which our new grammar school pupils enthusiastically put their hands on. The result was impressive.
Baking “Striezel” with the private grammar school
Just in time for All Saints’ Day, our grammar school class was once again able to show off its cooking talents and, together with our chef Petra Knittelfelder, we braided and baked the famous “Striezel”.
The junior chefs relay 2020/21 has begun!
As every year, the first Junior Cooks’ Unit took place in October, where 11-13-year old chefs can get an idea of the profession. This is organized once a month on the campus of the tourism schools.
After a short introduction round, it was time to get really serious and after a short time, the junior cooks were already making their first pancakes.
Unfortunately, due to the Corona regulations, they have to be patient for the 2nd unit in the new year – safety first, but postponed is not cancelled
. On the other hand, the young talents will be allowed to cook more often in summer.
Smiling faces after the successful boys’ sommelier exams
With a little delay due to corona, new young sommeliers were able to receive their certificates in October. This additional training has a long tradition at the tourism schools and, in addition to numerous prizes in national competitions, it has awakened a passion for wine in countless tourism students and some of them have made a remarkable career.
