Digital Open Day at the tourism schools in Bad Gleichenberg
Actually, the motto for the open days is – a highlight for all senses. Unfortunately, Corona prevented this “sensual” event. The high infection rates forced the school like all other schools to think of something new to present the campus and the educational programmes.
“We had long hoped to be able to at least conduct pre-registered individual school tours on the planned weekend in November. But at the end of October it was clear that we would have to postpone these too until 2021. Nevertheless, we developed an alternative plan early on to be able to present the school digitally to future pupils and students,” says Headmaster Peter Kospach.
For the digital open day, numerous info videos with the teaching team were already filmed in September and a special digitour platform – www.tourismusschule.com/digitour – was created on the TSBG website, where you can find all the information, a 3-D campus tour, videos and photos at a glance.
On the digital info day itself, zoom conversations with pupils, students and the teaching team took place. At the same time, the school’s social media channels offered a wide range of information on cooking, service and bar, such as smoothie or cooking recipes and instructions on how to fold napkins or tutorials on how to arrange plates creatively and especially beautifully.
Of course, there was also the possibility to take a digital interview and register for the coming school year.
“A digital open day cannot replace a visit to our campus, of course. Nevertheless, under the current circumstances it is a good opportunity to present yourself. From January 2021, there will be information afternoons again – hopefully in analogue rather than digital form. In any case, it was a very good opportunity for us to further expand our digital presence and competence. It was therefore a very good and instructive experience,” adds Peter Kospach .
All participants of the digital info day could also register for an exclusive individual school tour on Saturday, 9 January 2021, in order to experience the campus in its full splendour, even if then no classes will be present for security reasons.
