The Bad Gleichenberg tourism schools have been training the next generation of tourism professionals for decades. In order to keep up with the times, an additional extracurricular training programme is now being offered in collaboration with 5komma5sinne, where students can deepen their knowledge of social media marketing. The ‘Social Media Masterclass’ comprises seven double lessons, which will take place on Thursdays or Fridays until May. The course concludes with a practical exercise in which the masterclass participants will take over the entire social media marketing for the annual prom. Afterwards, graduates will receive a certificate and a high-quality certificate to confirm their newly acquired skills.
The vision behind the collaboration:
School and campus principal Peter Kospach was enthusiastic about the idea of offering the students a seminar in social media marketing from the very beginning. ‘Only those who can market themselves well will be seen in today’s world,’ emphasises Kospach. The seminar, which is attended by seven selected students, focuses on teaching social media marketing activities in a fun way. Topics such as storytelling, target group analysis, various strategies and legal principles are taught in an interactive and practical way. Finally, the curriculum also includes measuring and analysing your own social media success. The teaching units are held by qualified social media marketing manager Anja Wendzel, while the project is supported by educationalist Bettina Tobitsch, who takes on the coordination and organisational tasks in the background. The first teaching unit has already taken place.
The focus was on the importance of correct marketing in our everyday lives: why do we recognise a McDonald’s burger at first glance, for example, even though many burgers have similar ingredients? Why do we say ‘Tixo’ instead of ‘sticky tape’?
Successfully shaping the future
Another thematic focus will be the linking of social media with other media formats such as newspapers and magazines. In this context, the success story of 5komma5sinne with its mix of digital strategies and classic formats will also be discussed. A success story that is now one building block richer – after all, the Bad Gleichenberg tourism schools and 5komma5sinne are demonstrating with their joint project how important digital expertise has become in today’s world. By teaching relevant social media marketing strategies, they are not only setting an example in the present, but also actively shaping the future.
We are very much looking forward to working together! 🙂
