The school-autonomous subject *NEW Economy Experts*, which lasts 15 hours, focuses on practical business education that combines theory and practice in a meaningful way and optimally prepares students for their professional future.
This innovative subject integrates practice-orientated content from the world of business and creates links to theoretical knowledge from other subjects. The students carry out independent projects in co-operation with the regional economy, the tourism region and the Bad Gleichenberg tourism schools. In order to ensure employability, an eight-week work placement is planned, which not only supports the practical application of theoretical content, but also promotes stronger networking between the school and partner companies.
Lessons are enriched by field trips, company visits and lectures by business experts, which further reinforces the practical approach. Pupils develop independent projects in co-operation with the local economy and are specifically prepared for real economic requirements.
As a multidisciplinary subject, it focuses on interdisciplinary tasks that promote networking skills and teach the basics of economics, payment transactions and sustainable business start-ups. The practical approach is implemented in a junior company, where students gain practical experience in marketing, event and project management. At the end of the programme, they even have the opportunity to take the entrepreneurship exam.
A particular highlight is the cooperation with the tourism schools, which teaches important additional skills: from etiquette and good behaviour to the production of simple menus and the basics of beverage science, including bar and wine sommelier skills.
Our grammar school thus offers far more than theoretical content and places great emphasis on practical vocational preparation and direct applicability.
